Memories of my life on the UT campus are not complete without the sights and sounds of the Tower. Celebrating a football win with a ride up and down the Guadalupe with the blazing orange Tower in the background…that was exhilirating! Hearing the chimes of the bells and the songs on the hour…that was comforting!
No matter where I roamed throughout the city of Austin…up and down 6th street, on Mt. Bonnell, at Barton Springs, the Tower was there, standing tall, standing proudly. It beckoned me home. It watched over me lovingly and protectively. Now in a reversed role relationship, as I’ve grown up, I am the one standing over the Tower, watching over it lovingly and protectively. But no matter how grown up I get or how far away I roam, the Tower still beckons me home. Happy Birthday, Tower! You look great for 75!
